30th Annual Hunger Walk

Soldier Field, Chicago, IL

On Saturday, June 20, thousands of men, women and children will gather on Chicago’s lakefront to raise funds and awareness for the fight to end hunger in Cook County. The Hunger Walk is a fun opportunity for all types of businesses, organizations and individuals to help ensure their neighbors get the food they need. Join the Greater Chicago Food Depository for the 30th Annual Hunger Walk at Soldier Field. Last year, the 5K walk brought a record number of more than 14,000 people together and has grown into one of the largest hunger-relief events in Chicago - raising awareness and funds for the Food Depository’s network of 650 food pantries, soup kitchens and shelters. Data shows more than 812,000 men, women and children living in Cook County - 1 in 6 people receive food from our network each year. Food pantries in our community are serving 70 percent more individuals than five years ago - making the funds raised at this year’s Hunger Walk more vital than ever. Registration begins at 7AM, the Walk begins at 8:30AM and ends at 11AM.  I'll be playing from 10:05AM to 10:50AM. I'll be joined by the fabulous rhythm section of Chad Watson (bass) and Justin O'Connell (drums) - I'm borrowing them from the excellent band Noah's Arcade. Even if you don't want to do the walk, you can still donate!
