The Whipping Boys' Holiday Doo-Dah
The House Pub (Upstairs Lounge), 16 S. 1st Avenue, St. Charles, IL
Some of you may know that this time of year, I'm usually guesting at Dick Smith's Hoo-Hah on December 23rd. Sadly, this year, there isn't going to be a Hoo-Hah (no room at the inn - or any of the usual venues). But weep not dear friends, because two of the Dicks (who are also the two Daves, Ramont & Nelson) have had a side-side-project called The Whipping Boys, and they're throwing a Doo-Dah. Normally, the Whipping Boys modus operandi is to play whatever songs the audience has requested. This year however, they have decided to flip the script and make the requests of their guest performers. Since 2016 has been such a year of loss for the music world, the Boys went with the theme "Songs o' the Dead," so expect a cavalcade of tunes from those who've left us this past year. Some holiday classics will be thrown in as well. It's a Thursday night, probably going to be snowing, but it's not like you were really gonna get any work done on the 23rd. In fact, I'll be glad to write a note to your boss telling them why you can't make it in work on Friday.
